Abiodun endorses Adeola as Ogun APC consensus candidate for 2027

GOVERNOR Dapo Abiodun has named Solomon Adeola, popularly known as ‘Yayi’ as the All Progressives Congress (APC) consensus governorship candidate in Ogun State ahead of the 2027 elections.

The announcement was made on Monday in Abeokuta during a caucus meeting of the APC, where Abiodun formally presented Adeola as the party’s preferred flagbearer.

According to the governor, the choice followed extensive consultations among party leaders and is intended to promote continuity as well as strengthen internal cohesion within the APC.

Abiodun noted that Adeola possesses the political experience and network needed to govern the state effectively.

He also expressed a personal desire to see Ogun West produce the next governor and to exit office with a sense of fulfilment, attending both a farewell event with his successor and the swearing-in of a new APC-led administration.

In his remarks, Abiodun unveiled Adeola as the party’s chosen candidate, describing him as deserving of the role.

Adeola, who currently serves as chairman of the Senate Committee on Appropriations, previously represented Lagos West before shifting his political base to Ogun State.

The governor called on party members to rally behind Adeola, stressing that unity within the APC will be crucial to winning the 2027 governorship election.
