Seplat ANOH project delivers first gas, restarts four wells

SEPLAT Energy Plc has commenced gas production from its Assa North–Ohaji South (ANOH) gas project in Imo State, achieving first gas and marking a significant step for both the company and Nigeria’s domestic gas supply landscape.

In disclosures to the Nigerian Exchange and the London Stock Exchange, the energy company confirmed that the ANOH gas processing plant, which has an installed capacity of 300 million standard cubic feet per day (MMscfd), is now operational. Gas from the facility is already being supplied to Indorama’s petrochemical complex in Rivers State.

Seplat explained that gas sales to Indorama were being executed under a combination of firm and interruptible offtake arrangements. These agreements received regulatory approval from the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) on January 16, 2026.

The commencement of production followed the completion of the 11-kilometre Indorama gas export pipeline, alongside the reactivation of four upstream wells that had remained idle since November 2025.

Since start-up, the company said wet gas output from the ANOH project had stabilised in the range of 40 to 52 MMscfd, all of which is currently delivered directly to Indorama’s facility.

Condensate production from the project is averaging between 2,000 and 2,500 barrels of oil equivalent per day (kboepd). Seplat noted that these volumes were expected to increase as operations scaled up toward the plant’s full capacity.

Chief Executive Officer of Seplat Energy, Mr Roger Brown, described the first gas milestone as a key strategic achievement for the company and the country’s energy infrastructure.

“ANOH represents a strategic milestonw for Seplat, the Nigerian Gas Infrastructure Company Limited (NGIC), and Nigeria as a whole,” Mr Brown said, adding that the project would bolster domestic gas availability while supporting industrial development.

The ANOH gas plant is Seplat’s third major onshore gas processing facility and increases the joint venture’s gross onshore gas processing capacity to over 850 MMscfd. According to the company, the project is expected to contribute strongly to revenue, reduce carbon intensity, and support its ambition to reach 200,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day by 2030.

Seplat also disclosed that arrangements were underway to begin gas deliveries to Nigeria LNG (NLNG) under an interruptible offtake agreement, a move that would further position the facility as a key supplier to both domestic and export markets.

The Assa North–Ohaji South project is operated as a joint venture between Seplat Energy and the Nigerian Gas Infrastructure Company through the ANOH Gas Processing Company (AGPC), which was incorporated in April 2019.

The facility consists of two processing trains with capacities of 150 MMscfd each, alongside condensate stabilisation units, LPG recovery systems and a 16-megawatt power generation plant.

Feedstock gas for the ANOH plant is sourced from the unitised OML 53 and OML 21 fields, where Seplat’s working-interest proved and probable (2P) reserves were estimated at 0.8 trillion cubic feet at the end of 2024. The company said the project was designed for zero routine flaring, aligning with Nigeria’s sustainability goals and Seplat’s End of Routine Flaring programme.

Seplat added that the ANOH development reinforces its gas-focused growth strategy, enabling it to benefit from wet gas sales as well as its 50 percent equity holding in AGPC. The anticipated completion of the OB3 pipeline is also expected to widen access to domestic gas markets, while potential NLNG offtake could further lift volumes and earnings.
