Air Peace repatriates another 284 Nigerians from South Africa, total evacuees hit 1,085

AIR PEACE has concluded the fourth phase of its evacuation operation for Nigerians stranded in South Africa, returning another 284 citizens to Nigeria as xenophobic tensions persist in the country.

The latest humanitarian flight was carried out in partnership with the Nigerian government using the airline’s Boeing 777-200 aircraft. With the completion of the operation, the airline has now evacuated a total of 1,085 Nigerians through 4 separate missions.

In a statement issued on Thursday, Air Peace said the exercise reflects its continued support for national emergency response efforts by providing safe transportation for Nigerians caught up in the recent wave of xenophobic violence in South Africa.

The airline noted that the 4th evacuation further demonstrates its willingness to deploy aircraft and operational capacity whenever required to serve the national interest.

According to Air Peace, the cumulative figure of 1,085 evacuees comprises 262 Nigerians airlifted on June 11, 271 on June 30, 268 on July 3 and 284 on July 9.

It described the latest milestone as evidence of its longstanding commitment to humanitarian service, adding that the evacuation programme is driven by compassion, patriotism and the resolve to ensure Nigerians can safely return home during periods of crisis.

The carrier said the ongoing operation represents more than a routine airlift, stressing that it is part of its broader mission of supporting citizens in difficult situations and reuniting families during emergencies.

Air Peace also highlighted its history of humanitarian interventions, revealing that it has undertaken more than 16 evacuation and relief operations across Africa and other regions since it began operations, assisting in emergency repatriations and national relief efforts.

The airline reaffirmed its commitment to Nigeria, saying it remains prepared to respond whenever Nigerians require assistance, while continuing its mission of connecting people, restoring hope and bringing families together in times of need.
