Fraudsters hit CAC portal, agency urges users to reset passwords
THE Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) has confirmed a cybersecurity incident involving unauthorised access to segments of its information systems, saying a review is currently underway.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, the commission noted that only ‘limited aspects’ of its systems were affected by the breach.
The agency said it moved swiftly after detecting the intrusion, activating its internal response mechanisms to contain the situation.
According to the CAC, it is collaborating with the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), alongside other relevant authorities and partners, to determine the extent and potential impact of the incident.

The commission added that containment steps have already been implemented, with further security layers introduced to reinforce its systems against vulnerabilities.
While investigations continue, the CAC advised users of its portal to remain vigilant by reviewing their records, updating login credentials, and avoiding suspicious or unsolicited messages.
The commission reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding the integrity of its database and assured stakeholders that updates will be provided as the review progresses.
Separately, on April 5, the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC) opened a probe into an alleged data breach involving Remita Payment Services Limited, Sterling Bank, and other organisations.
