Court fixes June 9 for ruling on Blessing CEO’s bail request in alleged N36m fraud case

A FEDERAL High Court sitting in Ikoyi, Lagos, has reserved ruling on the bail application filed by social media influencer and relationship therapist, Blessing Nkiruka Okoro, popularly known as Blessing CEO, in her ongoing N36 million fraud trial.

The development was disclosed by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in a statement posted on its official X handle on Friday. According to the anti-graft agency, the defendant is facing a two-count charge bordering on alleged stealing and obtaining money by false pretence.

The EFCC stated that Justice D.I. Dipeolu adjourned the matter until June 9, 2026, for ruling on the bail application.

Part of the statement read: “Court reserves ruling on Blessing CEO’s bail application. Justice D.I. Dipeolu of the Federal High Court, Ikoyi, Lagos, on Friday, June 5, 2026, reserved ruling until June 9, 2026, on the bail application filed by social media influencer and relationship therapist, Okoro Blessing Nkiruka, popularly known as Blessing CEO.”

According to the commission, Blessing CEO is being prosecuted by the Lagos Zonal Directorate 1 over allegations that she obtained N36 million from Ms Ifeyinwa Nonye Okoye between July 14 and 17, 2024, under the pretext of securing a lease for a six-bedroom duplex in Lekki, Lagos.

At an earlier hearing, defence counsel told the court that N24 million had already been refunded and requested time to settle the remaining balance.

The EFCC, however, opposed any move for a private settlement, insisting that the matter is criminal in nature and should proceed to trial.

Justice D.I. Dipeolu had previously ruled that ongoing negotiations between the parties could not halt the proceedings and ordered that the defendant remain in custody pending further hearing.
