Nigerian Breweries reports fire incident at Aba warehouse, says operations unaffected

NIGERIAN Breweries Plc has disclosed a fire outbreak at an external warehouse facility in Aba, Abia State, assuring investors and the public that the incident has not disrupted its core operations.

In a notification to the Nigerian Exchange Limited (NGX) on Friday, signed by the Company Secretary, Uaboi G. Agbebaku, the company said the fire occurred on Thursday, April 9, 2026, at a leased facility located opposite its Aba brewery. The warehouse is primarily used for storing empty plastic crates.

According to the statement, the fire was swiftly contained through the coordinated efforts of the company’s emergency response team, supported by federal and Abia State government agencies, the Abia North Local Government, and other partners, including Oris Group and members of the host community.

“No injuries or fatalities were recorded,” the company said, adding that the immediate impact of the incident appears to be limited to the empty crates stored at the facility.

Nigerian Breweries noted that a detailed assessment is underway to determine the cause of the fire and evaluate the full extent of any losses.

The brewer further reassured stakeholders that operations at its Aba brewery, including production, logistics, and sales, remain stable and unaffected by the incident.

The company reiterated its commitment to maintaining high safety standards and operational efficiency across all its facilities.

Nigerian Breweries’ board includes Mrs. J.C. Anammah as Chair and T.F.B. Boidin as Managing Director/Chief Executive, alongside a diverse group of directors from Nigeria and other countries.
