Tinubu appoints Odusote as first female DG of Nigerian Law School

PRESIDENT Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of Dr Olugbemisola Odusote as the Director-General of the Nigerian Law School, making her the first woman to head the institution since its establishment

According to a statement issued on Tuesday by Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Mr Bayo Onanuga, the appointment would take effect from January 10, 2026, for a single four-year term.

Dr Odusote, 54, currently serves as Deputy Director-General and Head of the Lagos Campus of the Nigerian Law School. She will succeed the incumbent DG, Mr Isa Chiroma, whose tenure ends on January 9, 2026, after 8 years in office.

She has published widely in reputable local and international journals, presented papers at legal education conferences, and served on committees of both the Council of Legal Education and the Nigerian Bar Association, the presidency noted.

As Director-General, Odusote will provide academic leadership and administrative direction across all campuses of the law school and act as the primary liaison with the Council of Legal Education, the Body of Benchers and the Nigerian Bar Association.
