Trump image to feature on special US passport for 250th annniversary celebrations

THE United States Department of State has announced plans to release a limited-edition passport that will carry the image of Donald Trump as part of a special commemorative design.

Fox News reported that the redesigned passport is intended to mark the United States’ 250th independence anniversary, making it a symbolic rather than permanent redesign.

Preview images shared via the official White House X account show Trump’s portrait printed on the inside cover. The layout also incorporates excerpts from the Declaration of Independence, alongside the American flag and a gold-stamped version of his signature.

Another section of the booklet includes a famous historical painting illustrating the founding fathers during the signing of the Declaration of Independence.

The passports are scheduled for release in the summer, forming part of the broader America250 celebrations. Planned events include a Grand Prix race at the National Mall in August and a Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) event set for June at the White House South Lawn.

According to State Department spokesperson Tommy Pigott, the commemorative passport will feature customised artwork and enhanced visuals while maintaining the same security standards as regular US passports.

The exterior has also been redesigned, with ‘United States of America’ displayed more prominently above the national crest.

On the back cover, the American flag will be shown with the number ‘250’ positioned between 13 stars, referencing the 1777 version of the flag.

Officials say the passport will be available to US citizens applying during the rollout period, depending on availability, and will only be issued through the Washington Passport Agency.

The launch is expected to align with July’s anniversary events, as preparations continue nationwide. Activities will include a variety of public celebrations, such as a fireworks display at Mount Rushmore.

While commemorative items like coins or national park passes are common in the US, a passport remains a globally recognised identification document, typically valid for up to 10 years.

In a related move last year, Trump’s name was also featured on institutions such as the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts and the United States Institute of Peace.
