CBN approves Adepeju Adebajo’s appointment to FCMB Group board
FCMB Group Plc has appointed Ms Adepeju Adebajo as an independent non-executive director on its board following regulatory approval from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
The company disclosed the development in a notice to the Nigerian Exchange Limited (NGX) and the investing public on Friday.
According to the statement, Adebajo is expected to strengthen the board and support the Group’s transformation objectives across its operations.
She holds Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Chemical Engineering from Imperial College London, as well as an MBA from Harvard Business School.

Adebajo currently chairs the Board of the Lagos State Employment Trust Fund and serves as transformation lead at Etex Group, which includes Nigerite and Emenite Limited.
FCMB Group said she brings more than 30 years of experience across several sectors, including industry, renewable energy, agriculture, finance and consulting, with professional exposure in Sub-Saharan Africa and Europe.
She has previously held chief executive roles at Lafarge Africa Plc’s Cement business, Mouka Limited, Lumos Nigeria and UTC Nigeria Plc. She also served as an assistant general manager at United Bank for Africa Plc.
In 2025, she founded Climate Governance Initiative Nigeria, an affiliate of the World Economic Forum. She is also a member of the World Economic Forum Council on Climate and Nature Governance for the 2025–2027 term.
