THE United States has supplied Nigeria with key military materials in a move aimed at deepening security collaboration between the two nations.
The development was announced by the United States Africa Command (AFRICOM), the arm of the US military that oversees operations across Africa.
AFRICOM disclosed via a post on X on Tuesday that the consignment was formally transferred to Nigerian counterparts in Abuja.
According to the command, the delivery was intended to bolster Nigeria’s ongoing security efforts while underscoring the long-standing defence relationship shared by both countries.
The statement, which mentioned the US Mission in Nigeria, did not provide details on the type or volume of equipment handed over.
The latest support forms part of wider defence cooperation between Abuja and Washington.

In a related development, US forces carried out airstrikes on Christmas night in Sokoto State, hitting Islamic State–affiliated fighters alleged to be collaborating with the Lakurawa jihadist group and local bandit groups.
“Tonight, at my direction as Commander in Chief, the United States launched a powerful and deadly strike against ISIS terrorist scum in Northwest Nigeria, who have been targeting and viciously killing, primarily, innocent Christians,” Trump wrote on Truth Social on December 25, 2025.
He said he had previously warned the militants that there would be consequences if the attacks did not stop, adding that the U.S. military conducted ‘numerous perfect strikes.’
“Under my leadership, our country will not allow radical Islamic terrorism to prosper,” Trump added, while praising the U.S. military and sending Christmas greetings.
