MultiChoice completes integration into Canal+, to operate in 70 markets
FRENCH media giant Canal+ has completed the integration of MultiChoice into its operations, making the African pay-TV company a wholly owned subsidiary of the group, according to Chief Executive Officer of Canal+ Africa, Mr David Mignot.
Mignot disclosed this in a statement on Thursday, describing the move as the beginning of a new chapter for one of Africa’s largest pay television operators.
He said the transaction places MultiChoice within a global media group that operates in 70 countries and has an established footprint across Africa.
“MultiChoice is now a full subsidiary of a truly international media group operating in 70 countries,” Mignot said.

“The group was founded in France, listed in London and Johannesburg, and has a strong African presence with operations in more than 45 countries.”
According to him, the integration will enhance MultiChoice’s competitive position by giving it access to Canal+’s international expertise, global resources and broader operational capabilities, while reaffirming the company’s long-term commitment to the African market.
MultiChoice, which operates the DStv and GOtv platforms across sub-Saharan Africa, serves millions of customers with entertainment, sports and news programming.
The full integration comes after Canal+ concluded its acquisition of MultiChoice following an extended takeover process.
The combination brings together Canal+’s international television business and MultiChoice’s extensive African operations, which span more than 50 markets across the continent.

The landmark $3 billion deal positions MultiChoice alongside Canal+ to operate across 70 countries and significantly expands resources for African sports, news, and entertainment content.
