How race against time ended in tragedy for Nollywood actress Allwell Ademola

THE final hours of Nollywood actress Ms Allwell Ademola unfolded as a desperate race against time. one that ended before she ever reached medical care.

The 49-year-old actress, who died in late December after suffering a heart attack, was already slipping away by the time neighbours realised the severity of her condition, according to a fresh account by a witness,Tribune Online reported.

Ms Ademola was buried in Lagos on January 9. In a recent interview on the Talk2B podcast, a neighbour who witnessed the incident said the actress had called her in distress moments before collapsing inside her apartment.

The caller’s voice, she said, was weak and strained, suggesting something was seriously wrong. Alarmed, she gathered her husband, her son and a family friend and rushed to Ms Ademola’s home, only to find the door locked.

“She couldn’t open at first because she was naked and struggling to breathe,” the neighbour said.

After repeated knocking, Ademola managed to unlock the door. Inside, she was gasping for air and unable to stand properly. At first, those present believed she could be revived. They tried giving her an energy drink before realising the emergency was beyond home remedies.

By the time they attempted to move her to the car, the actress had lost the use of her legs.

“That was when I knew something terrible was happening,” the neighbour recalled, explaining that she had seen similar symptoms in a friend who later died.

With rain pouring and few people around to help, they struggled to carry Ms Ademola. The witness said she ran into nearby streets in search of assistance, eventually finding a few people, but even then, lifting her into the vehicle proved difficult.

She drove the actress to the hospital herself, accompanied by her daughter’s friend. Unknown to them, Ms Ademola had already died before arriving.

“When we reached the hospital, it was hard to bring her out of the car,” she said. “They tried to resuscitate her, but after some time, they told us she was gone.”

The witness said the group remained hopeful until the final announcement. “We felt she was resting. We thought she would survive,” she said. “Only for them to tell us she had passed. It was very painful.”

The account highlights how quickly medical emergencies can turn fatal when professional help is delayed, and how a few lost minutes can mean the difference between life and death.
