Turkish Airlines partners Samsung to roll out ‘Smart Tagged Baggage Service’

TURKISH Airlines has partnered with Samsung in a move that underscores the carrier’s ongoing digital transformation drive aimed at improving passenger comfort and convenience.

From December 1, passengers will be able to track their luggage seamlessly through the Smart Tagged Baggage Service, powered by SmartThings Find. The solution enables faster and more efficient tracing of misplaced or delayed baggage fitted with Galaxy SmartTag devices.

With the collaboration, Turkish Airlines becomes the first airline globally to deploy SmartThings technology for passenger baggage tracking, reinforcing its passenger-first approach to digital innovation and service delivery.

Using Samsung’s technology, travellers can also upload photos of their luggage via the SmartThings Find app, making identification easier. The airline plans to expand the use of SmartThings Find beyond baggage services, integrating location-based features into future passenger-focused digital solutions.

Commenting on the partnership, Turkish Airlines Chief Information Technologies Officer, Mr Kerem Kızıltunç, said the airline would continue to lead the industry in digitalisation through strategic technology collaborations that prioritise guest satisfaction and set new standards in aviation.

Samsung Electronics Executive Vice President and Head of SmartThings, Jaeyeon Jung, said the partnership reflects Samsung’s commitment to expanding the SmartThings Find ecosystem across industries to deliver more connected and stress-free experiences for customers.

According to the statement, the collaboration marks another milestone in Turkish Airlines’ commitment to innovation and excellence, as the national flag carrier of Türkiye continues to invest in technologies and partnerships that enhance every stage of the passenger journey.
